Ashweetha Shetty, the Founder and CEO of the Bodhi Tree Foundation, a Tirunelveli-based NGO which empowers and educates rural local graduates by professional development methods was the Chief Guest at the event. Addressing the session, Ashweetha Shetty emphasized on the challenges faced by the girl-child in the rural sectors, more so in the field of education due to the circumstances they are forced to live in. She shared her own life story as a product of similar circumstances who beat all odds and social norms to stand up for herself. "I chased and achieved success, thereby giving back to society by bringing in change. Empowering a girl child or anyone in the rural sector not only brings change within the child but also in the society at large, and patience and perseverance are the two key things to sustain a crisis and bring in the desired change," she opined.
Emphasizing that one should constantly motivate oneself by asking “Why am I doing this?” and should be driven by the answer of that insight, Shetty said that the motivated individual should count on the impact of the work he or she delivers to the community one works in. She also stressed on how teachers, mentors and like-minded people play a pivotal role to help the individual to bring change in themselves and the society at large.
